BIKERS took over a West Oxfordshire village for a 32-year tradition last night.
On the last Monday of June, thousands of people meet for the Cassington Bike Night – a social event for motorcyclists and villagers alike. The night is organised by the British Motorcycle Riders Club Oxford, who meet on Mondays at the village’s Red Lion pub.
Club secretary Alan Elger said: “I have no idea how it started, but it has grown and grown and is no longer just for British motorcycles, everyone is welcome. Most people just come to look at the bikes, talk to people they have not seen in a year and have some food and drink.”
Bikers flocked from London, the Midlands and the south coast to admire each other’s motorcycles, enjoy barbecue food and tea from the local branch of the Women’s Institute.
Mr Elger added: “The whole village gets together, the atmosphere is usually really good.”
