A MOTHER duck and her 10 babies have chosen an unusual place to nest – a back garden in the centre of the city.
Heather Mclean, 57, was surprised to discover the cute creatures at her Pembroke Street home two days ago.
To make their stay as pleasant as possible, Mrs Mclean created an improvised pond by sinking an old washing-up bowl into her garden.
Mrs Mclean said the ducklings are all doing well and spend their time cheeping and splashing around in the washing-up bowl.
She said: “I've been feeding them wholegrain bread and Cheerios, which they love.”
Mrs Mclean phoned the RSPB to rescue the family, who have been released into the wild nearby.
She said: “I’ve really enjoyed having them around and I will be sad to see them go, but obviously they need to.”
