Former farmhouse Chalford Park, which was built in the 1850s and was once part of the Heythrop estate, is on the market for a guide price of £2m.
At present, the property is split to create two self-contained areas — Oak House and Beech House — and sits in grounds of three-quarters of an acre.
Beech House is used as holiday acccommodation while Oak House is home to consultant gynaecologist Stuart Canty and his wife Dorothy.
Mrs Canty said: “We moved to Chalford Park originally because Stuart took a job in Banbury but that was 22 years ago and we are still here.
“We live in one of the two houses and had the other converted 13 years ago so that I could use it as a holiday let.
“I have a five-star rating and it keeps me busy. Although it is completely self-contained, it could be re-integrated into one single house again.” The couple have three daughters who have all flown the nest.
“The last one of our girls left home three years ago and they have all moved to London. We have enjoyed living here and still love it because it is so peaceful.
“There is great walking and on one side is a bridle path that takes you for miles through the most beautiful countryside,” added Mrs Canty.
“From the other, you can walk to Chipping Norton which is our nearest town and has plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants.
“Our children went to Oxford High School, so there is easy access to Oxford and all its schools from here.
“But now we have decided it is time to downsize.”
In total, Chalford Park has 17 bedrooms, 12 bathrooms and six reception rooms. Beech House has ten bedrooms and seven bathrooms, while Oak House has seven bedrooms and five bathrooms.
Many of the bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms and the master suite in Oak House also has its own dressing room.
The house includes two kitchens, two entrances, two garages, two stores, a large cellar, south-facing gardens with a pond, large gravel driveway and views over the surrounding countryside.
Max Douglas, of agents Maxwell Douglas, said: “Oak House and Beech House offer an exciting opportunity to acquire a unique property. The sheer scale of the accommodation and the flexibility of the building’s layout means it would be suitable for a variety of possible uses.”
