A residents’ group leader has called for perspective, insisting her street – the scene of a stabbing on Tuesday – is still a safe place to live.

A 37-year-old man was stabbed in the arm and head in Divinity Road, East Oxford, following a row in the street. He was taken to John Radcliffe Hospital following the incident at 3.40pm on Tuesday.

Police who closed the road briefly to conduct their investigations are now appealing for witnesses.

Last night Elizabeth Mills, of the Divinity Road Residents’ Association, said she believed the area was safe. “It is not the first incident we have had, but it is still a very safe place to live and we should keep things in perspective,” she said.
