I INVITE all readers of the Oxford Mail to stand in solidarity with all those who are going to lose their jobs or be clobbered by the VAT increase to 20 per cent and the 25 per cent cut in public services after Tuesday’s Budget.
Some readers may remember Labour councillor Ron Groves, who represented Kidlington for many years in the 1970s, 80s and 90s.
Twenty years ago Ron introduced me to the Kidlington and Yarnton Labour Party when I was campaigning as a new mum for nursery places in the village – cut by the Tories in 1980s.
I want to urge local people, Green-leaning, Lib Dem-leaning or plain undecided to come forward, join Labour and consider standing for local government next May. Join the resistance.
Catharine Arakelian, Evans Lane, Kidlington
