A 19-year-old man was sentenced to 21 months in prison at Oxford Crown Court for robbing an Oxford shop.

Jorden Davis, of Abingdon Road, Oxford, was given the sentence after he admitted to robbing JK News in Abingdon Road on January 27, 2010.

Davis, who had only been released from prison eight days earlier, entered the store and threatened staff with a knife before stealing three bottles of wine.

Det Con Ben Yeats said: “I’m pleased with the sentence, which reflects the nature of the offence that Davis has committed.

“Oxford has seen a reduction in the levels of robberies, both to businesses and individuals, in the past year and this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated.

“This week Thames Valley Police has launched Operation Buzzard, an operation designed to crack down on robberies throughout the city, and I hope that those thinking about carrying out this sort of offence will see this punishment and have second thoughts.

“Thames Valley Police will continue to target these offenders and they will be brought before the courts.”
