TOTS posed happily for the camera yesterday as the Oxford Mail Baby of the Year competition moved to Cowley.

Our photographer has switched from Debenhams – where hundreds of babies put on their best smiles – to Matalan, at the John Allen Centre.

Mums, dads and carers headed along to put forward their tot as the bonniest baby in the county.

First prize in the competition is a trip for two adults and two children to Disneyland Paris, which includes a stay in the Hotel Santa Fe and return travel.

The winning family will also receive £100 in children’s clothing vouchers from Debenhams and a framed portrait.

Mum Anne Hawkins, from Kidlington, brought along her five-month-old son, George.

She said: “I have two other children who have taken part in this competition in the past, and we thought it would be nice to let George have a go too.

“Seeing his picture in the paper will be lovely for us and the rest of his family, and will provide us with a lovely keepsake.”

Lisa Gordon, 24, from Bicester, said her one-year-old son Riley Laidler could be in with a chance.

She said: “Every mum thinks their child is the most beautiful, and that’s why we came along today.

“I know as soon as he appears in the Oxford Mail all his family will want a copy of the paper. It will be nice for them to see him.”

Photographer Mark Fraser, from Fraser Photography, will be in the kidswear section of the store between 10am and 4pm today, tomorrow and Friday.

He said: “Everything is going well so far. It’s been great see so many people bring along their babies.”

There are three categories for the competition; up to nine months, 10 to 18 months and 19 to 36 months.

The winners of the other two categories will win £50 Debenhams vouchers and a framed photograph.

Taking part in the competition is free. Just fill in the form, left, and take it along to the photoshoot.

All babies entered will feature in a special Oxford Mail supplement to be published next month.
