I notice that even in these times of hardship Oxfordshire County Council is wasting money again by putting stone chippings on our roads (Friday’s Oxford Mail).
These have included Parks Road and South Parks Road. Not only did these roads not need doing, as they were in good condition, but the sign which informs us to reduce speed to 20mph as it’s a “skid surface” is a danger in itself.
To cyclists and motorcyclists the roads are a nightmare, with a build of up of stones. Car drivers meanwhile see paint removed from their bodywork.
It’s a waste of money all round.
They have done the same to Botley Road and some side streets between Woodstock and Banbury roads. But the best bit is they did not fill in the holes first, so the new surface is just like the old one – but worse. Does this council not look at what it plans to do first to see if it is needed?
Before spending any more cash they should give me and a few friends a call and let us take a look. Our advice will surely be better than them making any decisions sat down with tea and biscuits.
