Potholes are back in the headlines. Compensation claims to Oxfordshire County Council for car repairs have more than trebled.
It seems tough for victims of pothole-littered roads who have already paid out for repairs.
They may not see the money for months as the council wades through claims.
There is an element of sympathy for County Hall.
They are dealing with an unprecedented level of potholes and paperwork.
However, we can’t see local people having a great deal of sympathy.
We are heading towards mid-summer and roads are still lumpy and bumpy.
It seems unlikely work to fix the roads will be anywhere near complete by the time the winter draws in again.
