I WAS disgusted to read your story 'And Babies Make 10' (Oxford Mail, June 9).
Apparently, 54-year-old Mrs Johnston, who already has eight children, received IVF treatment abroad and has produced two more.
If she was that desperate to increase her brood then surely she could have adopted a child.
Mrs Johnston doesn’t seem to have any environmental concerns, or realise that when these two new babies grow up they will find it difficult to find homes of their own because people like her are having so many children.
Also, with habitats being eroded and built on, where is the wildlife supposed to go? That appears to be of no concern to the Johnstons.
It’s because of the selfishness of people who breed so indiscriminately and irresponsibly that the Earth’s resources are becoming depleted, while other species are disappearing rapidly.
What’s more, why should I finance people like them through my taxes? Such people deserve to be treated as social pariahs.
