ON MAY 8, the first ball of the first over of the first cricket match played on the new village cricket pitch in Horspath was bowled.
The pitch was created on a piece of overgrown and neglected ground next to the village recreation ground by volunteers over the past three years.
This was all done at minimum expense and organised by the village cricket club, now, despite all their problems, they have two first-class cricket pitches on which to play.
And they are used for teams ranging from young children through to adults.
Well done everyone who helped.
KEITH BROOKS, Gateley, Horspath
