THE fifth annual Barton Bash welcomed in the summer this weekend with a display of martial arts, face-painting and a spot of sunshine.
Saturday’s shindig attracted hundreds of people eager to enjoy the good weather.
Organiser and Barton resident Sue Holden said: “There have been lots of children, lots of parents, it has been brilliant. That’s what it is all about – bringing everyone together.”
Visitors to the bash were treated to free henna tattoos, balloon modelling and face-painting, with many opting for St George’s flags to mark England’s World Cup opener against the USA.
Alice Riddel brought five-year-old daughter Sandra Macharia along from Risinghurst.
She said: “It is wonderful to have so many things for the kids to do.
“It has been so well organised. I think it’s a wonderful way to bring the communities together.”
