FOOTBALL fans were gearing up for England’s big kick-off tonight.
England shirts were selling out across Oxford yesterday as supporters got kitted out for the match against the USA.
The official shirts are selling for £44.99 on the FA and Umbro’s websites, with the new away kit also selling for £49.99.
But shoppers were finding the price fluctuated around town.
JJB Sports, in Oxford, and JD Sports, in Banbury, were selling the adult shirts for £39.99, with the junior sizes selling for £30 and £29.99, respectively.
If you want the World Cup edition of the kit, emblazoned with “South Africa 2010”, you will have to pay £44.99 in JD Sports, and £54.99 in JJB Sports.
Adam Browning of JJB in Magdalen Street, said: “Today has been hectic – non-stop England shirts going through the till.
“We have had to restock what was out on the shopfloor twice today.
“If England are going to do well, I am sure people will buy more kit.”
Debenhams in Oxford also got in on the act, selling adult shirts for £40 and junior shirts for £32.
But yesterday, the department store had only one adult home shirt left.
SportsDirect.com in the Westgate Centre appeared the cheapest place for kit, selling adult shirts for £35 and junior replicas for £28.
World Cup edition shirts cost £40 for adults and £30 for juniors.
