THERE was no shortage of tuition and encouragement when it was the turn of this novice player at the billiard table.
Mrs L Crawford was surrounded by men willing to teach her the art of ‘cuemanship’.
Among them were chairman Don Hughes, centre, and, on his right, secretary Arthur Gregory. The picture was taken at the British Legion Club in Marston, Oxford, in 1965.
The Hadow Road club was recently in danger of closing over an unpaid tax bill, but has been rescued by a loan from a well-wisher to settle the debt.
