A contemporary Cotswold stone house has been converted from a former water works, showcasing the stylish looks of the original art deco building.
Number 2 Riverbank Studios is one of seven houses in the old Witney Water Works, built in 1936.
The entrance is on the first floor, where steps lead down from the kitchen to the dining and sitting room, with views over the River Windrush and surrounding countryside.
The highlight of the house is the large glass skylight above the open-plan living space.
Stairs lead down to the upper-ground floor where there are three bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room and bathroom. On the lower ground floor is another bedroom and bathroom.
Jacqueline and Dan Mundy, who both work in the banking industry, bought the house three years ago, when a change of job meant they had to move from Harrogate.
Mrs Mundy said: “Dan was working in Swindon and I got a job in Northampton, so we spent months hunting for a house that had real character and was located somewhere between the two, but nothing quite lived up to what we wanted.
“Then Dan saw that the old Witney Water Works was being converted into houses and it proved to be perfect.
“We had been living in a new build in Harrogate and vowed never to make the same mistake. But this place had a certain charm and, best of all, we had a blank canvas to work with.
”We both work such long hours that we didn’t want to take on a building project but as I studied interior design for a while, I asked for all the walls and floors to be left uncovered so that I could design the interior exactly the way I wanted.”
The Mundys have enjoyed living in a riverside location, as Mrs Mundy explained: “Although it’s off the beaten track and not many people even know it is here, we are also close to Burford, Cheltenham, Stow and Witney.
“It will be a real wrench to leave but Dan is now working in London’s Canary Wharf and the travelling takes three hours each way, which is just too much. We shall really miss our neighbours, who all moved in at roughly the same time as we did.”
Riverbank Studios is at the end of a single lane drive near the village of Worsham, between Witney and Burford.
The property has its own terraced gardens, including a courtyard which is partly paved and a small lawn.
Underground parking provides space for two cars. Number 2 Riverbank Studios is on the market for a guide price of £695,000.
