A 30-YEAR-OLD man appeared at Oxford Magistrates’ Court charged with two counts of perjury in connection with alleged sham marriages.
Amrik Singh was remanded in custody to appear on Wednesday. He is accused of making a false statement, which suggested he lived at Marshall Road with Kamila Snarska.
It follows a raid at Oxfordshire Register Office on Tuesday. UK Border Agency staff carried out the raid following an investigation into alleged sham marriages across the country.
Four people were arrested and two addressees in Oxford were raided.
A 47-year-old British man was bailed pending further enquiries and a 19-year-old Polish woman was given a caution. A second Polish woman was released without charge yesterday, a Border Agency spokesman said.
