Sir – I refer to Anthony Morris’s letter (June 3, Much too PC). I am amazed in this day and age with his prejudice and insulting remarks towards the police and gay people.
Does he not realise the Rainbow Flag is an accepted flag for gay people that they have used fighting through prejudices, such as his, to incorporate all peoples, of all colours and persuasions and no longer ‘strange’ to common-sense-thinking peoples. Gay people are taxpayers as well Mr Morris.
It is right the police are supporting gay people at long last. In the past many gay people suffered prejudice from them, through pressures from such people as Mr Morris’s way of backward thinking, to arrest and try to convict them for just being themselves. Yes, the role of the police is to administer law and order, particularly towards sexual orientation, something gay people have not enjoyed in the past for such a long time. It is the role of the police to promote sexual diversity, as well as promote anything else, with people who are law-abiding citizens.
Far from it that the police are ridiculed to take this stance. They are to be upheld and congratulated to show they are incorporating all peoples under their fairness policy. Well done the “British” bobby.
