MORRIS dancers kicked off the 15th Wantage Summer Festival on Saturday.
Members of the Icknield Way Morris Men performed their traditional folk dances in Market Square, with Wantage Silver Band providing the music.
Town mayor Jim Sibbald opened the month-long festival, which aims to showcase the talent and culture in the area. Festival chairman Julia Reynolds said: “It was a great start.
“The weather was lovely and a good crowd of people were on hand to watch. It would be great to see as many people as possible heading along to the various events going on around the town over the next four weeks.”
The Vale and Downland Museum is putting on a family-friendly display on the history of buildings in the region, where people can discover the history of where they live.
Art exhibitions, music workshops and poetry readings will also form part of the programme.
