GUIDES and Brownies have taken part in all sorts of activities in Oxfordshire over the years.
The girls in the first picture were one of the star attractions in Horspath Scouts’ show in 1971.
Guides Heather Swanson, Pauline Carter, Amanda West and Gail Bricknell had everyone in the village hall rocking as they performed the can-can.
And that wasn’t their only appearance. Three items later, they were back on stage dancing in Hawaiian grass skirts, much to the audience’s delight.
In the next picture, Iffley Brownies show off a magnificent patchwork blanket – they spent four years knitting the woollen squares.
They are seen presenting it to 77-year-old Elizabeth Lewis, who lived at Rose Hill.
Miss Lewis, an expert knitter, took one look at the blanket and congratulated the Brownies on their skill with the knitting needles.
The Oxford Mail has featured lots of pictures over the years of Guides marching through the city to their annual church parade.
The third picture shows some of the 500 Guides and Brownies in the 1965 parade crossing Carfax from Cornmarket Street.
