AN Oxfordshire pub has changed its name to The Three Lions.
Football-mad general managers Adam Manning and Emma Pearce changed the name of The Red Lion, in Oxford Road, Kidlington, for the duration of the World Cup.
Ms Pearce said: “We’re football mad at the Red Lion so changing the pub’s name to The Three Lions seemed the perfect way to show our support.
“Our locals are 100 per cent behind the name change and share our passion for the beautiful game.”
Should England win, the pub hopes the name change will become permanent.
Since January, the pub has held a shirt amnesty, asking locals to donate unwanted football shirts.
These were delivered to children in South Africa last week.
Ms Pearce said: “We thought what better way to thank our locals and show our support for England in South Africa than by renaming our pub?”
