THERE have been a few changes in the corridors of power at Cherwell District Council.

George Parish has been elected council chairman, taking over the post from Diana Edwards, and Timothy Hallchurch is the new vice-chairman.

There have been minor changes in the 10-strong executive, with Kieron Mallon stepping down to take a role in Oxfordshire County Council’s cabinet.

Colin Clarke, who has just become Banbury’s mayor, has also taken on the role of executive member for breaking the cycle of deprivation.

Barry Wood remains council leader, with George Reynolds deputy leader.

Mr Parish, who also heads up the Save the Horton campaign, said: “During my year of office I’m keen to continue supporting our communities in ensuring good quality, accessible health provision both in Banbury and Bicester.”

The new executive line up is: Barry Wood, policy, community planning and community development; James Macnamara, resources and communications; Colin Clarke, breaking the cycle of deprivation; Ken Atack, performance management, improvement and organisational development; Nicholas Turner, customer service and ICT; Norman Bolster, economic development and estates; Michael Gibbard, planning and housing; George Reynolds, environment, recreation and health; Nigel Morris, community safety, street scene and rural; and Debbie Pickford, democratic services and member development.
