CAR maker BMW has declined to elaborate on a report that it plans to produce a car inspired by the classic Mini Moke.
The company unveiled the Mini Beachcomber, which it said was inspired by the 1964 Moke, as a concept car at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year.
Mini brand manager Dr Wolfgang Armbrecht recently hinted in an interview with car magazine Auto Express that the Beachcomber could be put into production.
He said: “We were overwhelmed by the reaction.”
But Mini spokesman Sarah Heaney said: “It’s still a design concept. Nothing has been confirmed.”
BMW also declined to comment on whether it could be built at Cowley.
