I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree with Steve Plant (Oxford Mail letters, May 10), that, under the Tories, tax bills will rise, with more income tax and NI contributions. VAT has already to rise to 20 per cent.

We will see cuts to the NHS and other public services, pay freezes, and falling benefits payments, so within two or three years we’ll be in poverty – which is usually what occurs under the Tories when they get to run this country.

They love to hit the middle and working classes as hard as they can. Never mind the idle rich; they leave them to luxuriate in their ill-gotten bonuses.

Yes, we’ll soon be back to the Thatcher era and God help us then. So Who can we blame for this? All those who voted for David Cameron.

Gordon Brown thought he was doing the right thing with cold weather payments, national bus passes, and the like.

Now the Tories may even cut these. I would love to challenge Mr Cameron and Mr Clegg to live on the pittance which we are forced to, and see how they would cope even for just one month.

I bet they would never attempt it because they wouldn’t survive for a week, let alone a month.

When are Mr Cameron and Mr Clegg going to promise jobs for all?

Mr Brown made his promise of jobs for all way back in August and had already started work on it. But all the Tory voters put a stop to his plans.

Perhaps they’ll all change their minds again at the next elections and vote Labour, as they should have done this time.
