THOUSANDS of Christians will gather in Oxford’s South Park on Sunday for a big celebration.
Love Oxford is now in its fifth year and about 4,000 people are expected to attend.
The day will start with a mass worship at 11am, introduced by the Bishop of Oxford, the Rt Rev John Pritchard.
A picnic lunch will then be followed by sports-related youth activities.
Churches from across the city have united to organise the event, and pastors and rectors from various church groups will be involved in the service and prayers.
Matt Partridge, pastor of Emmanuel Church, based at Magdalen College School, in Cowley Place, will lead the prayers.
He said: “Love Oxford really is a fantastic demonstration of the unity Christians enjoy.
“In a city like Oxford, where there is the possibility of everybody getting on with their own thing, it is fantastic to see thousands of Christians enjoying togetherness.
“I can’t wait.”
The theme of this year’s event is ‘Unchanging truths passed on from generation to generation’.
