I AM pleased that councillor Ed Turner came forward and stated the work he put in to push for a regular bus service between Rose Hill and Cowley centre (Oxford Mail, April 27).

I admit I was incensed when I read a recent Labour Party leaflet which said that after years of campaigning by councillors, tenants and residents’ associations, and Andrew Smith, Rose Hill was finally going to get a direct link to Cowley centre from June 7.

The missing link became apparent when the draft Core Strategy Policy for Oxford was presented to the city council's south east area committee a couple of years ago.

The committee was willing to accept the report – but those of us who are residents of Rose Hill noticed that the estate would be left out on a limb as no connections by public service to the proposed centres of administration were shown on the maps attached.

None of the councillors made any comment and it was left to the tenants and residents’ association to make representation at the hearing with the Government-appointed inspector, to stress the importance of having a regular and established service for the Core Strategy Policy to be acceptable.

The service is now in place and I hope residents will make good use of it. If there are any suggestions for improvements I hope they will make it known at the tenants and residents’ association meetings held at the Community Centre at 7.30pm every first Tuesday of the month.
