A CHURCH in Cowley has launched a project handing out new clothes and shoes to the city’s refugees.
Word Fountain Christian Ministries, in Hollow Way, Cowley, has started opening its doors once a month, so the needy can kit themselves out for free.
The church has teamed up with the Red Cross, which receives end-of-line clothes from budget chain Primark, and Oxford refugee charities Asylum Welcome and Refugee Resource.
Assistant pastor at the church, Ronnie Adekoya, said: “It is part of our community outreach project. It’s good that all the clothes are new so there’s no association with being handed cast-offs.”
