Sir – I regret that your paper published inaccurate information concerning the lecture by best-selling author Alison Weir in Woodstock.
Your books page listing (May 6) gave May 10 as the date, when in fact the lecture was on May 11 (this date was given accurately in Chris Koenig’s interview with Alison on the same page).
On behalf of the Woodstock Literature Society I would like to explain that we had not requested this listing in the first instance, as having sold all the tickets over two weeks before this popular event a listing would be pointless.
Visitors are warmly welcome at all our events and we run a full and varied programme of author talks and lectures on literary topics throughout the year.
Coming soon are talks on crime fiction, William Morris, George Orwell, and race and conflict in the American novel among others. As well as consulting The Oxford Times’ listings column, readers can also check our website on www.woodstock literaturesociety.com or email info@woodstockliteraturesociety.com
