Award-winning designer Susan Bradley has put her home in Wolvercote on the market, including the garden studio where she has created many of her designs.
The four-bedroom house has been renovated and extended by Ms Bradley in keeping with its 1930s origins.
She explained: “The house is big enough for us but my business has simply outgrown the studio, so I am looking for somewhere further out of town with outbuildings I can use as a retail showroom.”
Ms Bradley bought the house in Godstow Road, which she shares with her partner Simon, four years ago.
She said: “It still had many period features such as the original oak flooring which we discovered when we ripped up the carpets.
“We love the 1930s look, so tried to keep everything true to the style of that era. For instance, we still have one of the original ladder windows on the stairs.”
The kitchen, dining room, sitting room and garden room are all open-plan and there is a utility room and downstairs cloakroom.
Ms Bradley continued: “We wanted to create a light and bright garden room to bring the south-facing garden indoors, so there are opening glass doors on two sides linking it to a terrace perfect for alfresco dining.
“The flooring in the garden room took months of sourcing to find just the right tiles to connect this space to the cedar deck surrounding the room through the glass doors.”
All the bedrooms are doubles, the master with ensuite shower room, and there are many design features in the house, including work surfaces made from recycled crushed glass in the kitchen.
Ms Bradley added: “I am very sad to leave as I love the area with its village atmosphere, great local pubs, the space of Port Meadow and the river a short stroll away.”
The designer specialises in interior and exterior furniture, artwork and accessories such as bookends and clocks.
She is best known for her award-winning metal ‘outdoor wallpaper’ and her work has been showcased at the Chelsea Flower Show and design exhibitions around the world.
Clients include Harvey Nichols, DKNY and Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and her designs are on sale in outlets such as Liberty, John Lewis, Heals, Paul Smith and the Victoria & Albert Museum.
She is also a regular exhibitor during Oxfordshire Art Weeks, although she did not take part this year because of having her house on the market.
Number 13 Godstow Road is on the market for a guide price of £795,000.
