Police seized more than £100,000 worth of cannabis in a raid on a house in Marston, Oxford.
Officers discovered nearly 300 plants at a house in Weldon Road when they forced their way into the property shortly after 1pm yesterday.
Plants were being cultivated in three upstairs bedrooms of the semi and two rooms on the ground floor. One man was arrested.
Nine officers were involved in the operation.
PC Chris Miles said it was the biggest haul of cannabis plants in the Headington and Marston area for 18 months.
PC Miles said a raid in Headley Way last week netted a greater number of plants, but the plants seized in the latest raid were more mature.
Sgt Paula Wynn appealed for residents to alert police to any suspicious activity.
She added: “The main things to look out for are people not using bins, no one coming or going and houses that do not open windows or curtains, particularly in the summer.”
Neighbours said problems with drugs were becoming more frequent.
One local said: “It is really going downhill and over the last four or five years it has got worse. It was such a quiet area. We have lived here for more than 30 years and it is worrying.”
