The predictions of the Green Party that the Liberal Democrats would join a Tory Coalition in a hung Parliament have come true.
Those who voted Lib Dem, and their grass roots party activists who were conned into thinking, that they were in some way different to the Conservatives must feel betrayed.
However, it has been clear for some time that the Lib Dem leadership has been moving the party steadily to the right on a whole range of policies – such as social justice, economic policy, privatisation and support for wars.
Of course, these are all the policies of the Labour Party, and they could have made a deal with them. There is, after all, a very clear anti-Tory majority in the House of Commons but philosophically, as an ex-banker and foremost advocate of free market policies, Mr Clegg feels far more at home with the Tories.
The only question now, is how long will it last ?
The deal with the Lib Dems looks like cheap trick which allowed the Conservatives to get the keys to No 10.
Once we have had the photos with Barrack Obama and the European heads of state, to prove he is a statesman, and a neutral budget with few direct cuts, we will see Mr Cameron hold another General Election to cash in on his honeymoon period.
He only needs 20 seats, and if returned the real savage cuts will begin.
Who let them in and supports them? The Liberal Democrats.
Who will trust them ever again?
David Williams, Oxford city councillor, Oxfordshire Green Party
