Company executive Brian Kenworthy is swapping his trendy town house for a rural property now that his children are about to leave the nest.
Mr Kenworthy bought the house near the centre of Abingdon as a show home from developers Cranbourne five years ago.
He explained: “It’s a great house, just three minutes’ walk to Waitrose, five minutes to the town centre and a bus to Oxford goes right from the top of the road.
“You can also walk easily from here to all the main schools in Abingdon.”
Mr Kenworthy, who is the managing director of corporate events company TMB, based in Kingston Bagpuize, is selling because his accommodation needs have changed.
“My two children have lived here with me for part of the week since I have been here, but my daughter is in sixth form now and my son is on a gap year before going to university in September.
“It was great being in a town while the kids were at school, but now I would like to be somewhere more rural.”
He is ideally looking for a property in the Kingston Bagpuize area, so he can walk to his place of work.
Since he bought the house he has upgraded it, as he explained: “It was brand new, so I didn’t have do much to the house but I did decide to install a bigger and better stand-alone shower in the bathroom.
“I also commissioned landscape gardeners to design the outdoor space and they introduced things like a water feature, architectural plants and night lighting.
“I wanted to create a low-maintenance urban garden that I could sit in and relax and invite friends over for barbecues in the summer.”
On the ground floor is a room looking over the garden, which Mr Kenworthy uses as a study, a downstairs cloakroom and access to the garage.
A living room with with two windows, balcony and fireplace, a kitchen/breakfast room and the first of the four bedrooms are on the first floor.
On the second is the master bedroom with built-in wardrobe and en-suite plus two more bedrooms, one double and the other single.
New Street is a private road and the house, which comes with a covered parking space and garage, is on the market for £350,000.
