THIEVES have stolen a unicorn made of willow from a garden at Oxford Castle.

The four-foot high sculpture was made by students at SS Philip and James’ Primary School and was on display as part of Art Week.

It was stolen from the castle's garden in New Road on Wednesday evening.

Gallery manager and organiser of Art Week Sophie Egleton said: "We were alarmed to discover that despite having on-site security this stunning piece of sculpture has been taken.

"The children of SS Philip and James’ Primary School are distraught at finding their artwork was stolen and we can only hope that the people or person who liberated the unicorn will do the honourable thing and bring him home."
