Motorists are being advised to avoid roads in Oxford city centre on Sunday as 3,250 people are set to take to the streets for the Oxford Town and Gown 10km run.
Roads will close from 8.30am until midday for the event, which raises money for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.
The roads which will be closed are: Parks Road, South Parks Road, St Cross Road, Longwall Street, Holywell Street, Broad Street, Jowett Walk, Mansfield Road, Bradmore Road, Norham Road, Fyfield Road and Norham Gardens.
The High Street will remain open at all times for buses and taxis coming from The Plain, but will close for about half an hour at 10am for vehicles coming from Carfax, while cars hoping to turn into Longwall Street will be turned away at The Plain.
Race director David Basham said: “It is shaping up well, we have already got markings up in the parks and at the finish line.
“We are all ready to go to finish the job.
“The last time I looked at the weather forecast, it said it would be warmer than it has been recently with sunny periods, which is ideal.
“As long as it is not chucking it down with rain or boiling hot, we are OK.”
The race is expected to raise £100,000 for the charity.
