More supercars are set to be on display at the Heritage Motor Centre than in Monaco, when it hosts the Supercar Sunday show on Sunday, June 27.
The annual event, which has been running for a decade at the centre at Gaydon, near Banbury, will see hundreds of supercars and superbikes gather for the one-day show.
Highlights of the show will include stunt bike displays from Dave Coates, a world record attempt for the largest gathering of Yamaha R1 and R6s and the ‘Supercar & Superbike of the Year’ competitions. Dave Coates show features various tricks on a Yamaha R1 Superbike, a Yamaha 450 Quad and a Yamaha 50cc scooter. Tricks will include wheelies, stoppies, burnouts, surfing on the tank, skidding and sliding.
Another feature of the show is Dream Rides provided by Sporting Bears which gives visitors the chance to ride in a dream car in exchange for a donation to charity. Visitors will also get the opportunity to meet their 'Hollywood Heroes' - costumed characters such as Freddie Krueger, Michael Myers, Jedi, Joker and Lara Croft. Other activities include model motor racing using a digital Scalextric which allows up to six cars to race on a two-lane circuit.
Visitors can also enjoy a number of exciting outdoor activities including travelling as a passenger in a Land Rover on the 4X4 Experience or experiencing the thrills and challenges of the twists and turns on the purpose built Go-Kart track.
Inside the museum there are more than180 historic cars on display plus the new summer 'Star Cars' exhibition of famous cars from TV & film; including a Batmobile, the new Judge Dredd vehicle and Shaun the Sheep's Land Rover, to name just a few.
Emma Rawlinson, event executive for the Heritage Motor Centre, said: “Supercar Sunday is a fantastic exhilarating family day out giving visitors the opportunity to view and admire some of the finest supercars & superbikes in one place. Seeing Lamborghinis or Ferraris arrive en masse is a sight and sound to behold.”
Anyone interested in showcasing their own Supercars or Superbikes should contact the organisers. Those that enter their vehicles will receive a free pass for the driver to enter the event and a car pass.
The organisers are specifically looking for cars in the following categories: Supercars (McLaren F1, Bentley 4.5 litre supercharged, Ferrari, Lamborghini, GT40, Porsche GT1 & Aston Martin), Sports Cars (Jaguar XKR, TVR, MR2, & Lotus), Performance Cars (Subaru Impreza & Mustang) and any interesting, unusual or rare cars. Car owners have the additional option of entering one of the two Track Runs for super/sports cars which takes place on the Emissions Test Track of the Jaguar Land Rover test facility.
