Sunday, May 16, 2010, 7.05 pm: James Constable and Adam Murray pick up the Conference play-off trophy from Sir Geoff Hurst to confirm Oxford United have won their place back in the Football League.

York players getting their medals.

Adam Chapman named man of the match. Players are understably in ecstasy.

94.00 OXFORD UNITED ARE BACK IN THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. The wilderness years are over. Thank you Chris Wilder. Thank you the players. The fans are going mental in the stand.

92.30: There are 90 seconds to go.

90.20: GOAL: Oxford 3 York 1. We are THERE: York been throwing the kitchen sink at United. Header out from a corner and Deering and Potter gang up on one defender. Deering feeds Potter and he takes an age to slot it home. You beauty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

88.25: Alamo anyone? York wanting to shoot when they can. Sangare shot blocked then a follow up wide.

87.20: Lawless shot from distance off defender for corner. The corner is deep and over Clarke's head but he somehow gathers it. If you doubted the keeper's bottle after the mistake...

86.25: Oxford substitution. Rhys Day for Adam Chapman. Day's job is to sit in front of central defenders.

84.55: United break through Potter abnd he sucks in two defenders. Then feeds Constable on his left just inside box but he blazes too high.

83.45: Sam Deering at the heart of good movement around the box. Comes out for Bulman to hit but blocked. Substitution not far off.

81.56: Mackin has speculative left foot volley but miles wide.

81.00: York substituion. Neil Barrett for Djoumin Sangare.

80.20: Again good play by York on edge of box. Worked back for Lawless to shoot but he cuts across the ball too much and it's well wide.

78.13: Oxford substitution. Sam Deering for Jack Midson. Is Wilder trying to get someone on to keep the ball more and relieve the York pressure on the backline? Think Wilder wants to go 4-4-1-1.

74.45: Chris Wilder telling his team to push out because they are defending deep. If they sit this deep they will concede. A cross in from the byline and Pitt at back post has Clarke scrambling at the base of his post to push out, with help from defender to clear.

73.00: York substitution. Courtenay Pitt for Chris Carruthers. Comes just after a very patient and neat York move on the edge of Oxford's box. Barrett shots over the bar though. Warning for United again because best piece of York play all game.

70.55: Ball falls for Lawless for York but he wallops it well wide.

69.15: York substitution. Michael Gash for Michael Rankine.

67.50: Oxford substitution. Alfie Potter comes on for Matt Green. Unclear if a result of the Mackin challenge.

66.15: Lawless works some space for York inside the box and hits a low shot. Defender blocks it but keeper Clarke had covered anyway.

63.30: Green goes down after a 50-50 with Mackin. Ref doesn't give a foul. Both players weren't going to pull out of it. Green limping after treatment but coming back on.

62.45: The test. Cross in under pressure and Clarke takes it with no problems. Then there is a smile. He may well have put that error behind him.

58.00: United's turn now. Bulman shot causes panic. Keeper out of goal, hooked back in, Clist has a scorching left foot shot the keeper parries, ball moves around again and Chapman hits shot wide.

54.40: Constable shot is charged down.

53.30: Big scare for United. Ball in the box and Wright takes too long to clear. Rankine uses strength to get ball and fires left-foot shot wide. Should have been 2-2.

52.00: Well United have started the better. Chris Wilder obviously given a decent team talk to re-set their minds. And Wright just pulled out an excellent last gasp tackle on Brodie.

46.00: Early United corner. Deep and Wright heads it. It drifts past a gaggle of players and York defender chests it out for another corner. That coems to nothing.

45.00: United kick off towards their fans. Rain is bucketing it down now.

Half-time: Well Clarke's clanger has changed the scoreline but York were having their best spell. United were clearly the better side in the first 30 for chances and general play. There was width, there was movement and there was penetration. United clearly had a game plan to release Green and Beano early and it paid dividends. And if Midson's header had gone in it would be done and dusted.

But then York began to impose themselves and were pressing. There was no great threat but York were finding their feet. The York goal was terrible to concede and now it'll be down to the players'

mental strength as much as anything. Could United have gone 2-0 up too early?

41.40: GOAL York City. Howler from Clarke. Hopeful punt into the box which the keeper should gather with ease but he fumbles it over the line, despite the attempts of Wright on the line. The cross went through his hands, bounced off his head and over the line. Could it be the wet ball? Maybe but dubious.

37.40: Lucky deflection as United try to clear. Ball breaks to Rankine but Tonkin solidly blocks the ball out. United get lucky with throw coming in as it clearly bounces off defender's head and out but ref gives a goalkick.

31.30: Lawless is certainly that. Tonkin tried to clear ball in deep leftback position and was caught by York's Lawless and goes down. Lawless booked.

30.00: This is a good game with lots of decent passing. United can't go to sleep on their lead. If they do they'll pay.

26.15: Midson hits the post with a header at the far post after corner. So close to game over.

26.00: Neat interplay down the right and Green has wicked shot saved.

25.30: Green gets half-chance. Comes off defender foot to take the pace off it. York have had a couple of long throws since goal.

20.15: OXFORD 2-0! Beano. Another ball down the middle and their defence can't cope as Green challenges. It falls to Constable and he controls, moves on and clinical left-foot finish from the skipper.

16.55: York corner and Graham heads over. Never going in.

14.20: OXFORD 1-0! Matt Green you beauty. Ball down the channel and Beano goes in. Keeper Ingham tries to get it but it bounces out to Matt Green on edge of box and a fantastic swivel and finish into the top corner.

12.55: Tame York shot from Carruthers. No worries as Clarke gets his body behind it for easy scoop up.

11.05: Good move from York. Decent ball dinked in for Rankine, who has pulled off the defenders, but it's just too high and goes out for a goal-kick.

08.00: Green almost put in with great through ball. Keeper Ingham comes out and blocks ball. It runs to Clist and he gets around Ingham but his cross is cut out.

04.55: Oxford scare. Hopeful punt into box and it takes a wicked kick towards goal, so Clarke does the safe thing and palms it over for a corner. Corner comes in and header over but ref gives a foul.

01.00: Early panic in York penalty area as long throw is allowed to bounce. Ingham, the City keeper, has to punch.

00.00: York kick-off. United kicking towards the York end.

Teams have come out, met Sir Geoff Hurst and sung the national anthem. Teams now just running through a mini warm-up.
