Police are trying to piece together the movements of a man whose body was pulled from the River Thames at Oxford’s Folly Bridge today.
Police and paramedics were called to Abingdon Road, at 11.50am after a passer-by spotted a body floating in the river beneath the bridge.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Police are now trying to piece together the man’s movements around the city centre.
Officers directed pedestrians and cyclists away from the scene while they investigated the incident, but the road remained open to traffic.
Det Chief Insp Colin Paine said: “He was white, aged in his mid 30s, had dark brown hair and a small, dark goatee beard. He was wearing a blue tracksuit, red top and black trainers.
“We would like to hear from anyone who may be able to shed some light on the incidents that led to this man’s death.”
Anyone with information should call police on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
