Police are appealing for witnesses after a man’s body was recovered from the River Thames, near Folly Bridge, Oxford today.
Police were called to Folly Bridge shortly before midday when a member of public spotted a body floating in the river.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Det Chief Insp Colin Paine said: “We are still at the early stages of our investigation and we area trying to determine the circumstances behind the man’s death.
“We believe that the man had previously been in the city centre before walking towards the river.
“He is white, aged in his mid thirties, has dark brown hair and a small, dark goatee beard. He was wearing a blue tracksuit, red top and black trainers.
“We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area who may have seen this man or be able to shed some light on the incidents that led to this man’s death.”
