Sir – I read this election pamphlet, paid for by Lord Ashcroft of Belize tax avoidance fame, with some amusement.

What does a ‘hung parliament’ mean? In essence it means coalition government that’s what it means.

The last time we had coalition government was during the Second World War when it worked extremely well and steered this country through perilous times. The £2 trillion debt that Gordon Brown’s champagne socialists have left us with are certainly perilous times and demanding of the best brains of all parties to put this country on a sound footing for the future.

So-called strong governments of the last 30 years or so have all been minority governments, having been elected by less than 42 per cent of the popular vote, thanks to the undemocratic voting system favouring the cosy duopoly of Labour and Tory.

A Hung Parliament would be a great opportunity for the British electorate to get the Parliament they want as opposed to what the entrenched vested interests want!
