I OFTEN find your Scales of Justice page illuminating as, being in full-time work, I have no opportunity to find out for myself what is happening in courts across the county.
Probably other readers will share my surprise at some of the sentences.
In the most recent SoJ list (May 10), I note that a woman who admitted driving without a licence or insurance was fined £65. Admittedly she got three points on her (non-existent) licence too, but I wondered why the magistrates felt that such a low figure was appropriate – assuming the penalty was reported accurately?
