IF the Lib Dems had been a real anti-war party and ditched the new Trident nuclear deterrent, I truly believe they would have reaped the rewards, and may have doubled, or even tripled, their seat count at last Thursday’s General Election.
Instead though, they were wishy-washy as usual, and even found parity with the other two right wing parties as they wanted huge cuts in public spending.
Even I could not have predicted such a collapse in the Lib Dem vote, though a touch of ‘I told you so’, did not make me feel much better as we stuttered towards political uncertainty afterwards.
I’m still amazed, though not terribly surprised, by the amount of working people who vote Tory.
Still, if that great political news journal The Sun says so, I suppose they will!
