ON THURSDAY morning I managed after 30 minutes to order my tickets to watch Oxford United in the Blue Square Premier play-off final.
I was informed by Seetickets that the area at Wembley Stadium I wanted was not available.
Since I ordered, due to demand – which I do not understand as we, the supporters, always knew that this would be the case – another batch of tickets became available, which included the area which I wanted my family to be located in.
Why these tickets were not made available immediately to supporters I cannot understand.
We have been made by Seetickets to purchase tickets in an area which was not our first choice.
I tried to contact Seetickets to cancel my booked tickets and rebook.
I could have tried to do this on their website but felt it would be wrong to book another batch of tickets in my son’s name at another address.
I do not blame the club. I believe once again it is the Conference who have caused the issues of ticket allocation, particularly the very short time between the semi-finals and the final.
Season ticket holders must always receive preference as they have shown loyalty to the club but then I believe there should have been another day allocated to those who purchased tickets and supported Oxford United in the semi-final.
I also feel if more time was available, maybe the club could have sold them. This was done when we last went to Wembley for the Milk Cup Final in 1986 and I cannot recall the sort of issues and concerns that I have experienced this time.
To Chris and the team, thanks for getting us there. Now win the final and get us back where we belong.
