A man has been airlifted to hospital following a crash on the M40 this afternoon.
The incident took place on the southbound carriageway between junction 10 for Ardley and junction 9 at Bicester at about 2.10pm.
A police spokesman said a car was believed to have stopped on the hard shoulder for its passengers to change a tyre when it was hit by another vehicle.
Three people from the stationary car, who were outside the vehicle at the time, have been injured, an ambulance spokesman said.
A man in his 20s has been airlifted to Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital with non-life-threatening back injuries while another person has been taken to hospital by road.
A lane closure is currently in place and is expected to remain so until at least 4pm.
