“The voters’ verdict is clear.”
That was the message from newly reelected Wantage MP Ed Vaizey this morning as he argued the case for David Cameron to be the next Prime Minister.
Speaking to the BBC, Mr Vaizey said: “We have an unelected Prime Minister who has been voted out of office.
“I can’t believe for a moment that Nick Clegg will prop up Gordon Brown as Prime Minister. Gordon Brown has lost this election. He has been voted out.”
Moments ago Mr Brown announced he had ordered civil servants to work with rival parties — the Liberal Democrats, Conservatives and other parties — as negotiations begin into the formation of the next Government.
No party was able to win a majority in the House of Commons following yesterday’s vote.
