THERE was good news for David Cameron personally from readers of oxfordmail.co.uk but less reassuring findings for his party following the third leaders' debate.
Following Thursday's debate, we asked in our General Election question of the day who was the most impressive.
There were 970 votes cast and Mr Cameron, the Witney MP, was the clear winner with 42 per cent. Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg polled 26 per cent, with Gordon Brown a further five percentage points back. Eleven per cent of votes put the debate down as a dead heat.
It is a turnaround from the previous week, when readers declared Mr Clegg the winner on 43 per cent. Mr Cameron was in second place on 35 per cent and Mr Brown in third on 22 per cent.
But in the following day's question, voters overwhelmingly declared the three televised events had had no effect on their voting intentions this Thursday.
Only 12 per cent had been swayed by the party leaders, while a further 15 per cent said the debates would be an influence but so would other issues and factors in the campaign.
That left 73 per cent of people who have been unmoved.
Oxford United supporters will also be able to vote on their man of the match at oxfordmail.co.uk/sport shortly after the second leg play-off game on Monday.
