Nuclear weapons are murderous, expensive and make the world more unsafe.
Gordon Brown's support for a new version of Trident is a huge mistake.
The Labour Chancellor has done so much for Britain independence for the Bank of England, creating millions of jobs, keeping down the cost of living, the minimum wage, writing off Third World debts are all down to Gordon Brown MP.
But replacing Trident could cost £25bn. That's enough for new buildings for Peers School, Littlemore's own health centre, a decent Littlemore bus service, more affordable homes in Oxford.
There would be plenty left over for similar improvements all over this country.
Every Trident missile is eight times more destructive than the bomb which killed 140,000 Japanese in Hiroshima in 1945.
But nuclear weapons are no use against the secret terrorist groups which threaten Britain today.
It is like young people carrying knives. As long as Britain has nuclear bombs, Iran, North Korea and many more will want their own so-called nuclear deterrent.
Labour should promise to negotiate away all weapons of mass destruction.
