THAME Town put in a commanding performance to crush Bicester & North Oxford by nine wickets on Saturday and go top of the Division 2 West table.

Star of the show was Thame's overseas professional Haresh Dahabi, who captured 6-51 off 23 overs after Bicester had been put in to bat on a good pitch.

Bicester's Darryl Woods scored off the rare bad balls and had reached 32 when he was snapped up at short leg by an agile Chris Wynd.

But with Alex Jewell and Ben Chapman looking comfortable, Bicester were well-placed on 100-2 after 32 overs at lunch.

After the break, the complexion of the game turned completely as Dahabi and Steve Merry turned the screw.

A frustrated Chapman thra- shed at Dahabi and Rob Brooks clung on to a fiercely-struck shot at short mid on, before Blair came and went two balls later as Bicester slipped to 103-4 off 38 overs.

Jewell became Dahabi's fourth victim when an attempted sweep spooned to the waiting gloves of keeper Andy Wynd for 46.

With overs running out Bicester tried to accelerate as Shiv Talsania and Ian Bryan hit boundaries before both were dismissed.

Proceedings were brought to a close after Dahabi had Krishnan Talsania caught by an airborne Chris Wynd to leave Bicester on 178-9 from their 60 overs.

Thame's response was devastating as Bicester opened with the old ball.

The ebullient Rob Brooks smashed Paul Jeacock's off-spin for four and then despatched him high over long on for six.

Wynd then hit Bryan for three boundaries in his next over.

As Bicester retreated from the bat, the Thame openers picked off easy ones and twos.

With Wynd passing 50 in style, Thame reached tea at 95 without loss off 19 overs.

Brooks then passed 50. Then Wynd finally succumbed by edging a catch to gully for an outstanding 64.

Captain Adam Krol joined Brooks as they steered Thame home to victory. Brooks finished unbeaten on 85.
