BODICOTE: A bricklaying apprentice has been named Best Craft Certificate Student by the South Warwickshire branch of the Federation of Master Builders.
Joe Bourne was praised for his work both in the classroom and out on site for housebuilder KingsOak South Midlands. Mr Bourne, 20, is studying for an NVQ Level 2 in Bricklaying at Warwickshire College's Moreton Morrell campus and was awarded the shield by the Mayor of Whitnash, Cllr Parminder Birdi. Mr Bourne is currently working at KingsOak's Axis site in Merton Street, Banbury.
His apprenticeship has been arranged by the Zenith Partnership, part of Warwickshire College. Mr Bourne said: "Being an apprentice means I not only learn a new skill and get paid to do it, but I now have so many opportunities open to me. With hard work I might even be able to run my own business."."
