PROSTITUTES on Oxford's streets have started riding bicycles to fool police into thinking they are 'ordinary' members of the public.

Some 'working girls' have abandoned the traditional approach of loitering on street corners. Instead they have taken to two wheels in an attempt to blend in.

Cowley councillor Sajjad Malik said: "There are quite a few of them. They wear long boots and short skirts. If they stand for hours on a corner, it's obvious what they are up to."

PC David Stares, a member of the East Oxford beat team, said: "I don't think the bikes is a big new craze, it's just one or two of them. Perhaps it's coincidental that the prostitutes happen to own bicycles."
