Is your carpet stained, tired looking, in need of replacement? If so, before you rush out to buy a new one consider this you can now have your carpet dyed for about one third of the cost and it will look just like new.

In operation in the United States for more than 25 years, carpet dyeing has finally reached our shores, thanks to the entrepreneurial spirit of Bob Findlay.

Often in the US on business, Mr Findlay discovered the technique of carpet dyeing and was fascinated by its simplicity and effectiveness.

Two years later he found himself in the Californian office of Roy Langenwalter, the chief executive of one of the biggest carpet dyeing companies in the US, watching a demonstration of how it worked.

He said: "I decided it was something I wanted to pursue and, calling the big US companies for more information, I somehow managed to get talking to the man who had founded Langenwalter Carpet Dyeing one of the biggest in the US who invited me out to see how it worked."

Mr Findlay (pictured above, right) was sold by a vivid demonstration from the carpet dyeing mogul.

He added: "I remember very clearly he had a lovely white shirt on and he took a piece of carpet, dipped it in a coloured dye and then rubbed it all over his white shirt it was a very effective display."

Langenwalter was proving that the dye fixes and bonds instantly, meaning you can walk on the carpet as soon as the process is finished.

Now the Carpet Dyeing Company the first of its kind in the UK is based in Oxford and, although it uses Langenwalter carpet dye and has the company's back up and support, it is a completely independent entity run by Mr Findlay and business partner Deborah Crawshaw.

Ms Crawshaw (pictured above) said: "This is such a simple idea but it's not something that is done over here it is all about getting the message out there and once it catches on, I think it will be huge.

"This alternative is especially good for residential and commercial properties that need a quick and cost-effective solution."

The carpets are dyed in your home, with a typical room taking less than two hours, and an added bonus is that it is deep cleaned as the dye is delivered.

Mr Findlay, 52, added: " Deborah and I have been trained in the US and we are the ones who will come in and dye your carpet. When the time comes we will take on staff and train them too.

"We are very excited to be bringing this concept to the UK and hope to build up a strong local base in Oxfordshire before moving further afield."
