All the girls love a man in uniform and now Jane Davies is marrying one after meeting her future husband on a website for singles with a passion for people in uniform.
The former NHS worker from Oxford is getting hitched to her retained firefighter boyfriend Andy Parsons after they met up on www.Uniformdating.com The website promotes itself as "online dating for military singles, uniformed and emergency services or those seeking a date in uniform".
The couple are due to wed at the Oxford Spires Four Pillars Hotel, in Abingdon Road, on Saturday, September 9. Miss Davies, who had been a member of the site for a few months, said: "I was almost coming to the end of my membership and was thinking it was a waste of time. Then Andy clicked on my profile and I clicked back, we started texting and meeting up and the rest is history."
Miss Davies, 38, was working as a personal assistant at Abingdon Community Hospital when a friend persuaded her to have a look at the site.
She had only been on one other date when she started emailing and texting Mr Parsons last May. Miss Davies, who lived in Botley and Banbury for 15 years, said: "When we first met, I thought he was nice, but would be more of a mate."
As their relationship blossomed, she was won over by his personality and his uniform. She said: "I like to say I fell in love with him from the inside out, and he looks good in uniform."
Asset administrator Mr Parsons, 37, who had been a member of Uniform Dating for four months, went on two dates before he met Miss Davies.
He said: "I only really went on the site as it was difficult to go out to pubs and clubs because of giving cover to the fire brigade.
"There's no way I thought that I would fall in love with someone from the site, let alone find a wife."
The pair moved in together in his home town of Mortimer, near Reading, last month. Di Davies, of Uniform Dating, said: "Receiving positive feedback from members is always great, but when we hear that a couple are getting married as a result of meeting on the site, it makes our day."
Uniform Dating is offering Oxford Mail readers a 10-day free trial membership.
